**Phthalic Anhydride (P.A)**

Phthalic anhydride is a toxic white flake compound that serves as an essential industrial chemical. It is the anhydride of phthalic acid and plays a crucial role in the large-scale production of plasticizers for plastics. Currently, it is produced through the catalytic oxidation of ortho-xylene.

**Molecular formula:** C₆H₄(CO)₂O

**Applications:**

1. Alkyd resins for paints and varnishes
2. Plasticizer resins
3. Dye intermediates and pigments
4. Manufacture of phthaleins
5. Polyester resins

**Packaging:** 25 kg net polypropylene bags; 500 kg net in jumbo bags.

GPPS (General Purpose Polystyrene)

HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene)


  • Properties: HIPS is tougher and more impact-resistant than GPPS, thanks to the addition of rubber during manufacturing.

  • Applications: Used in automotive parts, appliance housings, toys, and packaging materials.

  • Advantages: Durable, flexible, and easy to mold.


PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)


  • Properties: PET is a strong, lightweight, and transparent polymer with excellent barrier properties.

  • Applications: Widely used in beverage bottles, food containers, textiles, and films.

  • Advantages: Recyclable, resistant to moisture, and suitable for high-temperature applications.
